Investing in the Future: Scholarship Program Supports Salesmanship Club Graduates

June, 2004— The Scholarship Committee of Salesmanship Club Youth and Family Centers awarded 19 scholarships for the 2004-05 academic year. These awards, totaling $75,000, are given to current or former clients of Salesmanship Club programs.

Michele Kliewer, a camp graduate and scholarship recipient, transferred to the University of North Texas last year after completing two successful years in community college. She earned a 4.0 last semester and is majoring in psychology. She shared her thoughts about the impact that the Salesmanship Club’s scholarship program has had on her:

“In high school, nobody had faith in me. Nobody thought I’d make it.

“When I first went to community college, I wasn’t sure that I wanted to be there. My grades reflected that. When I got a Salesmanship Club scholarship, it was like someone was willing to invest in me. The committee had faith in me.

“Then I realized that I was smart enough to succeed at school, and I just did it. It felt good.”
