| Camp Manager Takes Salesmanship
Club Model To Middle East |
|
Camp Manager Steve Holm recently spent
a week in Amman, Jordan training camp
leaders in the Salesmanship Club’s
model of working with difficult children.
Twenty English-speaking camp leaders
participated in the training and will
now share the information with their
Arabic-speaking camp staff as they prepare
to work with 1,000 youth next summer.
Holm distributed revised copies of
the training manual for working with
troubled children that he originally
wrote when he began his program sharing
work with Russian camp directors several
years ago. The ministry group that operates
the camp in Jordan plans to translate
the manual into Arabic and share it
with camps in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon,
Algeria and Yemen.
Holm’s trip resulted from his
work with the Global Outreach Group.
They are working with Manara Ministries,
which owns Camp Gilead, a two and half
acre camp in Jordan that has served
as a camp setting for children for 30
years. Four different groups now use
the facilities at Camp Gilead to minister
to 1,000 youth each summer.
