| Our mission is four-fold:
- Support direct program staff as they refine and develop their practices.
We not only monitor program activities and stats, but collaborate in
continuous process research studies and timely feedback to participants.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of our services by studying how each program
has impacted their clients' lives;
- Research best practices in education. We study and document classroom
approaches, synthesize what we learn, and share out findings with The
Institute for Excellence in Urban Education staff who use our protocols
and results to train educators from several North Texas school districts.
- Support the agency's work though information technology and services.
Dr. Ann Minnett leads our internal team of researchers, which includes a research specialist, a database and reporting manager, and IT staff.
Dr. J. Michael Coleman, Dean and Associate Provost at UT-Dallas, served as External Evaluator for SCYFC from 1982 – 2008. He recently transitioned the evaluation project to his colleague, Dr Ana Cardenas Schaller, who will continue annual evaluations of the school by following graduates and their families for seven years after they leave JEJCS. Dr. Schaller has worked on the External Evaluation Team for twelve years.
