Reasoning Mind
Mathematics education is a priority for all schools, and ours is no exception.
Hoping to boost our students’ performance in math, Jonsson School implemented Reasoning Mind in 2007. Using a computer-based, self-paced mathematics instruction program, Reasoning Mind helps students learn to think logically and independently.
Although our students were passing the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) in 2007, our follow-up research indicated that students were struggling with math when they transitioned to middle school. We wanted to strengthen our math component and help students advance through middle school and beyond with greater ease.
Did this strategy work? In a word – YES!
We believe that our adoption of Reasoning Mind has led to continued TAKS success and an ever-higher percentage of students receiving “Commended Performance.” We now use Reasoning Mind in grades 2-5. The teacher training component is first-rate, and the program frees teachers up to work with students in small groups and to offer extra support.
